Adoption can be stressul for children or families at times.  It may take time for family members to bond and adjust to each other.  As children grow and process information differently at each stage of development they may have new or different concerns or feelings about the adoption.

Some issues raised by adoption can include:
  • Guilt
  • Jealousy
  • Difficulty bonding
  • Threats of "You're not my real parent."
  • Questions about biological family
  • Being too lenient with the adopted child
  • Secrecy about adoption
